Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to recognise your browser across requests and sessions, and to remember certain information about your visit.
In addition to cookies, this site uses localStorage — a browser storage area that works similarly to a cookie but is never sent to the server with each request. Ascentra uses one localStorage identifier (polsia_vid) for analytics purposes. Like a persistent cookie, polsia_vid survives browser restarts but is stored entirely within your browser; it is distinct from an HTTP cookie.
2. How Ascentra Uses Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:
- Analytics. The Polsia analytics beacon tracks aggregate page views, visitor sessions, and consultation form submissions to help us understand how visitors use the site and improve our services. This is first-party analytics provided through the Polsia platform; no data is shared with advertising networks.
- Payment processing. When you initiate a payment, Stripe's JavaScript library may set cookies on your device to support secure checkout processing (e.g. fraud prevention, session continuity). These are set directly by Stripe, Inc. and are required for payments to function.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or profiling, and we do not share cookie data with third-party advertising networks.
3. Types of Cookies Used
Essential / Functional
better-auth.session_token — an HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax cookie used internally to authenticate signed-in users. It is set when the operator signs in via /admin/loginand is not used for tracking. Default token length is 1 day; signing in with the “Keep me signed in” option extends it to 30 days on that device. This cookie is required for secure site operation and cannot be disabled by visitors.
Analytics
polsia_vid — a persistent visitor identifier stored in localStorage (not an HTTP cookie) by the Polsia analytics beacon. It is used to distinguish unique visitors across sessions so we can measure page views, visitor sessions, and consultation form submissions. This identifier is first-party, stored only in your browser, and is never shared with advertising networks.
Payment Processing
Stripe, Inc. sets its own cookies (including __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) when Stripe's JavaScript library is active during the checkout flow. These cookies are required for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. They are set and controlled by Stripe, Inc. under Stripe's own privacy policy.
4. Third-Party Cookies
This site interacts with the following third parties in relation to cookies or similar identifiers:
- Polsia platform — provides the analytics beacon and the
polsia_vidlocalStorage identifier for first-party site analytics. - Stripe, Inc.— sets payment-related cookies during the checkout flow for secure payment processing. Stripe's cookie usage is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising-network cookies.
5. Managing & Disabling Cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Please note that disabling cookies may affect payment functionality — Stripe requires its cookies to be present for secure checkout.
The polsia_vid analytics identifier is stored in your browser's localStorage, not as a cookie, so it is not removed by cookie-clearing tools. To remove it, use your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage → select this site → delete the polsia_vid entry) or clear all site data in your browser settings.
6. GDPR / CCPA Compliance
We use analytics and payment cookies on the legal basis of legitimate interest (site analytics, fraud prevention) and contract performance (payment processing). We do not use cookies for advertising profiling.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, including any analytics identifiers. To exercise these rights, please contact us at hello@ascentraops.com.
7. Changes to This Policy
Ascentra may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
